• Select your household goods mover with care. Make sure the mover is properly authorized by the Commissioner of Transportation.
• Be sure agreements on the order for service and the bill of lading are in writing.
• Examine the physical inventory of the move for contents and condition.
• Make sure that you understand the limited liability of the carrier, and how to acquire additional protection.
• Advise the carrier of your telephone numbers/addresses while in transit.
• Be certain that everything listed on the inventory is accounted for at origination and destination.
• File a claim if you determine that your shipment has sustained damage or loss.

Packing Tips

Packing can be a tedious, time-consuming chore. It takes skill and the right materials to prepare household articles for shipping.

We recommend that you have Admired Moving and Transport pack for you. We are the professionals. We can pack your belongings in about ¼ the time because we have the right materials and are trained in the proper procedures.

However, if you decide to pack yourself, here are some helpful hints:

• You can buy the cartons you need from us. We can help you chose the sizes you'll need. This saves you valuable time tracking down suitable boxes from supermarkets and department stores. We can deliver the cartons directly to you, and they are designed for your household items, not soup cans!
• Wrap fragile items the way professionals do. Use two layers of newsprint per glass, dish, figurine, or whatever you have. Wrap firmly but loosely enough to provide a cushioning effect.
• Don't overcrowd boxes. Professionals pack boxes so each article will cushion the other. The top of the box should close with slight pressure. Don't mix. Pack clothing in our special wardrobe container so clothes hang straight and stay clean.
• Pack glasses standing upside down on end, not on their side. Stack dishes on edge. Fill empty spaces with wadded newspaper. Before packing glasses, layer bottom of carton with crumpled newspaper.
• Pack lampshades, mirrors, pictures, etc. in special cartons designed for them.
