United States Patent 9-30-97
D384.350
are
pleased to announce the introduction of a unique new electronic
entertainment device. This innovative concept is being offered
for licensing to an appropriate manufacturer. Called THE
PORTABLE-RADIO-CASSETTE CD PLAYER,
the concept calls for the manufacture of a device that can be used
to enable certain models of car stereo units to be used in a portable
fashion outside of the vehicle as either a free-standing unit or
inserted into a bazooka-style housing. |
To accomplish this, THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER'S
bazooka-type housing is fabricated from hard molded plastic.
A rectangular opening is positioned along the top edge of the box
to accommodate the radio, compact disk player and tape deck. Four
stereo speakers are included, one on either side of the entry slot
and one on each end. A battery compartment, housing rechargeable
batteries, is placed in the middle, just below the housing for the
radio, cassette and CD player. Solar panels are also provided
along the top of the housing as an alternative source of power.
The base unit itself is also equipped with it’s own speakers and
battery source, thus enabling it to be used independent of the larger
housing component. The drawing below illustrates the specifics of
THE PORTABLE
RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER'S
design and appearance.
With this arrangement, THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER enables
a person with the appropriate type of in-dash equipment to remove
the component from the car or truck, place it in THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER,
and then use it in a portable fashion as one would use a conventional
"Bazooka"-style sound system. Alternatively, the
base unit could also be used even without the accompanying bazooka
housing.
The primary benefit THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETIT-CD PLAYER
offers is convenience. In a sense, THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER
does not enable the vehicle owner to do anything that cannot already
be done. However, in the absence of a device like THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETTE-CD PLAYER,
accomplishing this requires the use of two separate audio products.
Removable radios, CD and tape players are, of course, commonly used
as are portable devices that serve the same music-playing purpose.
However, the current reason for removing these pieces of equipment
from cars and trucks is to thwart would-be thieves who see these
devices as easy marks to be burglarized. The significant difference
here is the way in which THE
PORTABLE RADIO-CASSETT-CD PLAYER
enables the vehicle owner to accomplish the anti-theft function
while also adding a whole element of portability to these devices.
