Thousands
of senior citizens
move to Florida each year to enjoy those golden years - those retirement years
basking in the warmth of the Sunshine State. Father Time, however, has
a way of interrupting those leisure years.
“When an elderly person becomes unable to care for
themselves, it’s difficult for them to come to this realization and receive
assistance.” Claire Bojanoski, a registered nurse and administrator at
The Elysium of Boca Raton. “Many times, this situation will go undetected
until something happens, such as mismanagement of medicines or malnutrition
.”
Today, she noted, a solution is at hand as the word
is spreading about the private assisted-living facility, The Elysium of Boca
Raton, Inc.
“The Elysium of Boca Raton has been recognized as an
excellent, compassionate and highly respected assisted-living facility,” Bojanoski
said. “We want residents to be as independent as possible in a safe environment
with nurses and aides to help when needed.”
Conveniently located on eight and a half scenic acres,
The Elysium provides residents with a variety of recreational opportunity.
There’s a full time activity staff who keep the residents occupied with bingo,
current events, outside walks, swimming, and daily exercise. Weekly religious
services are also provided to the residents.
“Our meals are Kosher, prepared by a gourmet chef and
served in an elegant dining room,” Bojanoski noted. “The menu selections
are appetizing and we would like to encourage visitors to sample the delightful
menu whenever they tour the facility.”She
pointed out that they also have an Extended Care license, which means The Elysium
has the highest level of care under Assisted Living. Residents needing
more care can be admitted with the assurance of receiving excellent care since
nurses are on duty around the clock. “This could mean a saving of up to 50 percent
for anyone eligible to be admitted at The
Elysium rather
than
a skilled facility,”
Bojanoski
said.
This
newest addition to The Elysium is their Medical Director Steven Morris, a Humana/Medicare
Doctor. Throughout the month Dr. Steven Morris visits his patients at
the Elysium and is involved with maintaining good quality care for residents.
“If you are in doubt as to the type of care your loved one may require, The
Elysium will arrange a free evaluation interview in order to determine just
what type of care is needed.
The Elysium also has a special care unit that offers
care for residents with Dementia. “These residents are also taken out
for walks and participate in various activities, “ Bojanoski noted. “It’s
wonderful to see these patients radiate the feeling of serenity.” What
makes this unit so special is that they have a personal staff, including nurses
aides and activities that can concentrate on each resident.
Bojanoski noted that their physical facilities are
exceptional, offering luxurious and spacious accommodations in a country club
environment. Semi-private rooms are large enough to hold two full-size
beds, and their oversized private rooms and private suites are also deluxe and
beautifully decorated.
Rates at The Elysium are determined by the degree of nursing attention a resident
needs. The monthly rates include three meals daily, over 50 hours a week
of activities, housekeeping and laundry service, administration of medicines,
assistance with daily living, mail service and 24-hour medical alert system
for emergencies.
“We encourage residents to get out of their rooms
and attend activities,” Bojanoski said. “It’s really great to see them
blossom a little and take a social interest in other people living here.
Residents in this type of environment do so much better than living alone."
The Elysium is a home away from home and true to the
meaning of its name,” Bojanoski explained. “According to Greek mythology,
elysium means “Heaven on Earth.” The Elysium is located in beautiful Boca
Raton, Florida which is between Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
