Your Medicine Cabinet

We're always asked by our patients what they should keep in their medicine cabinets for at-home care. We've provided a list below of the items that are helpful to have on hand. Please remember all medicines should be kept in a locked place or out of the reach of children. Also, remember that many over-the-counter medicines should probably be kept for only one year, and if not used regularly, should be replaced annually.
Tylenol and ibuprofen (children and adult strengths) for fevers and aches.
Benadryl (pills or liquid and cream) for allergic reactions and to help sleeping.
Bandages and antibiotic cream for minor cuts and scrapes.
Ipecac syrup for accidental ingestion and overdoses (call us prior to using).
Mylanta, Maalox, or Tums for reflux and heartburn.
Thermometer to check temperatures.
Sunscreen and petroleum jelly for sun and windburn.
