The Maclellan House crowns the Bluff View Art District. On the bluff's
crest, overlooking the Tennessee River, this handsomely restored
Tudor features six private guest rooms, an exclusive penthouse suite
and opulent surroundings for private events, plus many one-of-a-kind
furnishings original to the house. Telephones, modem hook-ups, private
bathrooms and cable television are also available in each room. |
The Bryan
Room. This "master bedroom" features a king size rice post bed,
gas fireplace, a Victorian sofa and views of Maclellan Island, the
Tennessee River, the Chattanooga Theatre Centre and the North Shore.
The Carter Room. This room features a king size rice post
bed, original antique furnishings and sunrise view of the Tennessee
River and Missionary Ridge, past the towering Magnolia tree.
The Highlander Room. This room features a queen size pencil
post bed, original antique furnishings, and southern exposure facing
the Art District, giving guests a unique view of the diverse architectural
styles in the neighborhood.
The Frierson Room. This room features a queen size pineapple
post bed nestled in a west bay window. A view of the neighboring
Faxon-Hunter mansion, now the Hunter Museum of American Art, is
also featured.
The Day Porch. Adjoining the Frierson Room is a smaller room
with a twin sleighbed and writing desk, ideal workspace for business
or bedroom for a small child.
Upper Story
The Morgan Llewellyn Suite. This suite features a panoramic
view of the Tennessee River and the Bluff View Art District from
the suite's private balcony. A king size sleighbed in the bedroom,
a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room, gas fireplace, reading
bench, and antique game table are also featured.
The Gentry Room. This room features a queen size sleighbed,
an antique secretary and sofa, and a sunrise view of the river and
Missionary Ridge.
The Moses Wells Room. This room features a full size bed
original to the house, antique window bench and chair, and a view
of the Walnut Street Bridge, Maclellan Island, The Chattanooga Theatre
Centre, the North Shore and the Tennessee River.
The Thompson House, a Victorian-styled home built
in 1908, provides modern luxuries in the spirit of historic style
and elegance. Here guests have a choice of four rooms and two suites
with private baths, cable television, telephones, and individually-controlled
heat and air conditioning systems. Each room is designated to honor
distinguished individuals in Chattanooga history who made their
homes on Bluff View.
Main Floor
The Newell Room. This room features a sitting area with
armchair, large settee, chaise lounge and a king size bed nestled
in a large bay window.
The Hunter Room. This room features an antique full size
bed and an inviting sitting area situated within a bay window.
The Maclellan Room. This L-shaped room features a grand
antique full size bed, spacious closet and comfortable sitting area
with an armchair and settee.
The Chambliss Room.This room features an antique full size
bed, armoire, and small writing desk.
Second Floor
Each second-floor suite includes a fully-equipped kitchen and breakfast
area, a well-appointed sitting room with fold-out sofa bed, bedroom
with reading area, and spacious bath with large, jetted tub/shower.
Gas fireplaces, cable television, and telephones are provided in
both the sitting room and the bedroom.
The T.C. Thompson Suite. This suite features a king sized
bed, twin size bed, and private balcony overlooking the Bluff View
Art District and the Tennessee River.
The Mabelle Thompson Suite. This room features a queen size
bed, queen size sofa bed, and 2 sets of enormous pocket doors rendering
privacy for the bedroom as well as the sitting room. A walk-through
bathroom connects both sleeping areas.
The C.G. Martin House. An elegant restored Colonial
Revival home built in 1927, features three guest rooms individually
furnished with beautiful antiques complemented by carefully chosen
traditional and contemporary fine art. All rooms offer a gas fireplace,
private bath, cable television and telephone. The gracious veranda
offers guests a river view while they leisurely sip coffee or converse
with friends.
The Martin Room. This room features a king size four poster
rice bed, large jetted tub with glassed shower and a private balcony
overlooking the Tennessee River and River Gallery Sculpture Garden.
The Houston Room. Features a tray ceiling, queen size sleighbed,
jetted tub/shower and a view of the Tennessee River.
The Portera/Randall Room. This room features an antique
full size bed, jetted tub/shower, cozy settee, fireplace and wonderful
view of Maclellan Island and the Tennessee River.

Directions: From 124, take
Hwy 27 N to the 4th St. Exit and proceed seven blocks before
turning left on High St. and travel 2 blocks to the end of High
St. and turn right at the Hunter Museum onto East Second St. You
will discover the Bluff View Art District. It is also within walking
distance from the Tennessee Aquarium, downtown Chattanooga and
Coolidge Park via the Tennessee Riverwalk.
