I was born in Daytona Beach,
Florida in 1945. I attended the University of Florida
on a golf scholarship, and transferred to Stetson University
to complete my undergraduate work. After completing
active duty in the U.S. Navy, I graduated cum laude in 1970
from Stetson University College of Law and returned to Daytona
Beach. For the first 12 years of my practice, I litigated
matters involving everything from adoptions to zoning, including
domestic relations, criminal law, estate and probate, personal
injury, real estate, and commercial litigation. In
the 1970's, I prepared the closing documents for a loan
to the International Speedway and many of the high rise
condos on the beach. My law partner, W.M. Chanfrau,
and I formed our partnership in 1977, and have had many
happy, rewarding years trying cases together.
In 1983, I decided to focus
my practice on the representation of those seriously injured
due to the fault of others, and in 1986 became Board Certified
by the Florida Bar in civil trial practice. I’m married
to Ali Chanfrau, and have a teenage son, Tyler. I
am still an avid golfer with a 4 handicap, and am also interested
in tennis, travel, photography, computers, music, reading,
and outdoor activities of all types. I am professionally
active in the Florida Bar as a member of the Grievance Committee,
and was a Former Board Member of the Young Lawyers Section.
I am the President of the Volusia Civil Trial Attorneys
Association.
