Medical Services
Choices employs a medical director, Mary Humbrecht, M.D. All patients
are seen by Dr. Humbrecht for a complete medical exam. She orders
a complete blood workup on all patients. Dr. Humbrecht must present
a written order for medication before the patient is started on medication.
After a complete addiction assessment by a board certified substance
abuse counselor, the patient will be admitted to short-term detox,
long term detox, or maintenance. Maintenance patients must have documented
evidence of one year of addiction to opiates and in withdrawals.

Clinical Services
Choices maintains a staff of professional counselors knowledgeable
in opiate replacement therapy. A master level counselor with certification
in substance abuse counseling oversees all counseling services. The
clinical director conducts a weekly staff meeting to discuss the progress
of patients and recommends treatment strategies in the care of patients.
The medical director oversees all changes in treatment plans. Weekly
or monthly urine drug screenings are conducted to determine the progress
of each patient. Patients who present positive drug screenings are
placed on probation or referred to inpatient treatment.

Nursing Services
Choices maintains a professional staff of medical personnel to monitor
medication administered to all patients. There are three qualified
nurses on staff to carry out the orders of the medical director. Nurses
keep daily medication summaries and keep track of all medication administered
daily. Nurses are accountable to the medical director and drug enforcement
officers for all medication administered to the patient.
