Ceramic Tiles

When shopping or researching ceramic tiling, you will be amazed at the variety of patterns, colors, sizes, shapes, and textures available for you to select from.

Glazed Tiles - The common ceramic floor tiles have either a glazed or unglazed surface. The glazed tiles carry a special ceramic coating that is applied to the body of that tile and then fired on under tremendous heat. The glazing becomes non-porous and hard, resulting in flooring that is stain resistant, scratch resistant, fire resistant, doesn't fade from sun light, slip resistant and yes, easy to clean.

Unglazed Tiles - In unglazed tiles, there is no glazing or any other coating applied. Their color is the same on the face of the tile as it is on the back, which results in longevity and durable tiles that do not show the effects of heavy traffic. The most common unglazed tiles that you may see are the red quarry tiles or the granite, porcelain looking ceramic tiles used in heavy traffic commercial areas. Ceramic tiles with bright glaze finishes are not recommended for commercial floors as they can cause a slip hazard and have poor abrasive resistance.
