About David
M. Amonette
David Amonette is an attorney in private practice with offices located
in both Gallatin (Amonette & Stubbs) and Portland. He is currently
the City Attorney for Portland and White House. David received his
B.S. from the University of Tennessee and his J.D. from the Nashville
School of Law. He has been practicing law for 25 years. Prior to his
opening his private practice, David was Staff Attorney, Branch Manager
and Correspondent Bank Representative for Third National Bank in Nashville
and then Partner and Office Manager at the law firm of Bone & Crawford.
David is a member of the Sumner County Bar Association (President
1984), Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, American
Bar Association and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.
David was born and raised in Nashville and now lives on a farm in
Portland with his wife, Alice, who is a professor at Volunteer State
Community College. He has two children, Alyson, a JAG Officer in the
United States Army and Andrew, a Captain in the United States Air
Force. David is expecting his first grandchild later this year.
David is a current member of the Gallatin Rotary Club (President 1987);
member of Gallatin, Portland and White House Chambers of Commerce;
member of Portland Senior Citizens, Inc.; former member of the Executive
Committee of the United Way of Sumner County; former Board Member
of the National Alumni Association of the University of Tennessee;
and former Board Member of CASA.
David is a member and attends McKendree United Methodist Church where
he is a Sunday School teacher and prior District Trustee. He was in
the Tennessee Air National Guard for six years.
Some of David's hobbies include: skiing, antiques, collecting Department
56 lighted houses, and raising Morgan horses and polled Hereford cattle
