Since
1995, Moore's has been at the forefront of the fundraising campaign
to convert 42 miles of abandoned railroad to a Rails to Trails family
recreational facility. Over $160,000 was raised to help create this
facility which connects several small towns while preserving 500
acres of wilderness. Longleaf
Trace Rail Trail offers a scenic setting in which to explore
the beauty of south Mississippi while spending quality time with
your family.
Our shop has channeled bikes (which would have been discarded) back
into the hands of kids who didn't have bikes, through our work with
area churches, the Boys Club, the Center for Prevention of Child
Abuse, Christian Services, and the Red Cross.
Moore's
Bicycle Shop has taught bicycle repair to area children through
the Boys and Girls Club and through Tools for Life, a program created
by Moore's to teach disadvantaged youth good values and basic repair
skills. Student and scout groups have benefited from this program.
Our staff annually repairs and donates bikes to the Red Cross, the
Center for Abused Children, the Children's Shelter, Christian Services,
Inc., and the Boys and Girls Club.

During the past 3 years, Moore's, with the assistance of other businesses
and civic groups, brought the Perfection on Wheels school assembly
program to 57 schools in nine counties. The dynamic stunt show promoted
helmet use and drug free living to 30,000 students in the Pine Belt
area. Moore's received the JC Penney Golden Rule Award for this endeavor.
