Effective
Permanent Hair Replacement
Hair
transplantation is now a time-proven medical procedure of hair replacement
for hereditary baldness (androgenetic slopecia). The hair transplantation
procedure (autogenous hair transfer) uses the patient's own hair to
replace balding areas on the scalp. Over the years, improvements and
supplemental steps to the procedure have increased the effectiveness
and yield of transplants. Excellent results are now achieved with most
patients. Transplantation procedures include modified split incisional
grafts, square grafts, alopecia scalp reductions, mini grafts, strip
donor method, no bandages, and suture retention of receptor grafts.
There are a number of advantages of hair transplantation over other
forms of hair replacement. Hair transplantation is permanent, with no
fear that the transplanted hair grafts will move around or change position,
no matter what the activity. And since the hair transplanted is the
person's own, there is no problem with matching color or texture. There
is also no fear of tissue rejection or foreign body reaction. Norris
Hair Transplant Clinic makes sure that hair transplantation is the right
procedure for each patient before any treatment begins.
"Our aim is to first make sure that baldness or hair loss is not
from a treatable cause, such a stress, inflammation, hormonal imbalance,
trauma from prolonged traction or tension on hair, or secondary to a
reversible process or drug," said Dr. Edwin Norris, head of the
clinic. "Secondly, we want to bring attention to misconceptions
about hair and its care and to protect patients from fraudulent claims
regarding hair growth restoration creams, special vitamin and protein
nutrients, hormone treatments, and dangerous electrical manipulations
of hair and scalp. Beware of those who masquerade as Physicians' Assistants
or 'doctors of cosmetology' and make claims regarding hair care and
restoration. Also, beware of facilities who claim one day surgical correction
baldness. These claims are not realistic, nor do they fall into the
realm of scientific medicine."
Hair transplantation, Dr. Norris adds, is the only proven method for
permanent restoration of hair.
