Specialty Waste Service The activities carried out by ONYX Specialty Waste Services grew out of a need to provide waste services for industries with unique waste disposal needs. Items such as medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and other non-hazardous industrial waste needing special handling and attention to security in its collection, transportation and disposal. ONYX Specialty Waste Services has offered this service since 1997 to customers such as Merck, Smith Kline Beecham, Johnson & Johnson, Estee Lauder, the United States Mint, and many other large corporations.  Industrial Waste Services As caring for the environment has become increasingly important, ONYX has provided the industry its expertise on a wide variety of industrial waste and environmental issues through the activities of ONYX Industries (Canada). This division specializes in industrial clean-ups, hazardous materials transpiration/handling, and rapid response to environmental accidents, on land and water. This division is also active in characterization and rehabilitation of contaminated sites; water, sludge and soil treatment; recovery of used oils and solvents' transfer, conversion, recycling and disposal of both solid and liquid, organic and inorganic wastes and high/low pressure industrial cleaning. Research, Development and Training Committed to the future of the industry and its employees, ONYX strives to stay on the cutting edge, by participating in CREED - VIVENDI's environmental and waste management research center. CREED researchers work together to find solutions to the waste management challenges of the future. CGEA has established the Urban Environment Institute, one of the premiere apprenticeship programs for waste management services in Europe. Based outside of Paris, the Institute provides training to all employees who represent the ONYX brand.
