1. What does the
cargo insurance cover?
This coverage is
for items while on the truck and while being carried by Q n
E staff. The cargo coverage does not cover the following items:
plants, lamps, jewelry, and original works of art. We will still
move most of these items (except for jewelry and original works
of art) and take our usual care. However, items not covered
by the insurance are moved at the customer's risk.
Quick n Easy also
carries a one million dollar general liability policy to cover
any other potential accidents.
2. Why doesn't
Q n E charge extra for insurance like other companies?
We don't know why
they charge extra. Our insurance is different from other companies.
We insure your household goods up to $100,000 through Fireman's
Fund Insurance, which is ten times the state requirement. Some
companies only insure by the pound. For example a one hundred
pound T.V. could be insured for 60 cents a pound, meaning that
if it were damaged, the customer would only receive $60. By
carrying the extra coverage, Q n E ensures peace of mind for
both the customer and the company.
3. What can I
do to make my move "quicker and easier?"
There are many things
. . .
a. Strip all beds. Wrap frames with tape, put bolts in
a zip lock bag and label them. Disconnect all appliances and
wrap cords with a wire tie. Empty freezers and refrigerator.
b. Finish all packing before the movers arrive. All boxes
must be sealed. Label them clearly with destination. Do not
over pack boxes. Never fill a box with books. Label rooms with
Post-It notes. (You should label where furniture goes in each
room with Post-It notes too.)
c. Keep all passageways and doors clear of obstructions.
Remove all vehicles from loading area. Do not close doors. (It
is difficult to move furniture through a closed door.) You may
choose to turn off A.C. or heat; keep in mind that this will
add to the discomfort level and slow things down.
d. Remove all children and pets from the residence. Pack
plants and lamps and small breakables in your car. (They don't
travel well in a truck.)
e. Be constantly available at new residence to instruct
Q n E staff as to where to put items.
f. Write out clear, concise directions to the new residence.
Trucks that are loaded don't travel as smoothly as cars and
pickup trucks.
g. Have all items out of attics. And have basements and
storage rooms cleared for easy passage.
4. What are my
options if something is damaged?
The first thing we
want our customers to be aware of is that we have an ongoing
relationship with Furniture Medic and Cooper Furniture Restoration,
both of which do repairs on wood furniture. If an item is damaged,
it will be transported, repaired, and returned at no cost or
inconvenience to the customer. As we already stated, we carry
ten times the state required amount of insurance. If an item
is damaged beyond repair, a claim will be filed with Fireman's
Fund and the customer will be reimbursed as fast as possible.
If the item is damaged with a very small scratch and the customer
chooses not to repair it, this can be resolved at bill time.
We do require customers to sign a waiver in regards to floors
or walls.
Our staff is well
aware of the preventive measures expected to ensure that these
damages do not occur. If one of these is damaged due to the
request of a customer wanting a large object moved through a
small area or up a small flight of stairs, we are not responsible.
If one of these is damaged due to Quick n Easy staff's negligence
(which is very unlikely), we will see to it that it is repaired.
