Welcome to the world of tapestry.
Tapestries as an art form are regarded as the basic way to create
pictures through weaving. Some of the earliest examples of tapestry
still preserved today are from Peru and were woven around 700 B.C.
Tapestries' roots in Western culture go as far back as the ancient
Greeks, who believed textiles an important means of redecorating
affluent homes and important buildings. Tapestries are even thought
to have covered the walls of the Parthenon. I carry tapestries woven
in France, Belgium and Italy. Most are reproductions of older tapestries,
many of which can be seen in museums such as the Cluny Museum in
Paris and The Cloisters in New York.
